As a rule of thumb if you wear your pearls many times through out the year you want to get your pearls restrung once a year or at least once every two years. If you wear them on a daily basis, you may want to do it more often. The problem with pearls is that they will soak up any material they are around. So if the cord gets dirty then the pearl is going to get dirty. If you wear your pearls a lot an on occasion you perspire or get make up on them the only thorough way to clean them it to get them restrung.
