Diamond
Diamond is the birthstone of April & the anniversary gemstone for the 10th and 60th years of marriage.

Lore & Legend - The Romans believed that diamonds evoked courage and bravery during battle. Jewish high priests used diamonds to determine weather one was innocence or guilty. If one was guilty, when the stone was placed in front of the person it would appear dull and dark; a stone held before an innocent person glowed brilliantly. As a symbol of innocence, justice, faith and strength, the diamond was believed to make those who wore it courageous and victorious over their enemies. When placed in gold and worn on the left side, it held the power to ward off nightmares and soothe wild animals. Diamonds were also believed tho stop lechery.

Emerald
In addition to its place as May's birthstone, emerald is also a recommended gift for couples celebrating their 20th or 35th wedding anniversary.

Lore & Legend - Used to foretell the future in the Middle ages and guard off evil spirit the emerald was also believed to cure many aliments such as eyesight and infertility. The emerald has been associated with love, as the ancient Romans dedicated this gem to Venus. The emerald also signifies hope, new growth and eternal life since it is the "color of spring." Actually, the French refer to the natural inclusions in emeralds as "jardin", the French word for garden.

Sapphire
Sapphire is the birthstone of September & the anniversary gemstone for the 5th and 45th years of marriage.

Lore & Legend - Sapphire originates from two languages - Greek "Sapphires" and the Latin "Sapphires". Ancient Priests used them to help them interpret Oracles and were regarded as such a powerful lucky charm that even when sold, the original owner was still protected. The ancients of Persia believed very strongly the Earth has its resting place on a giant sapphire and that it's reflection colored the sky.

Lore & Legend - The color of blood, ruby has come to symbolizes courage and bravery. Legendary warriors implanted rubies under their skin to bring valor in battle. Symbolizing sobriety, the amethyst was considered to be a strong antidote against drunkenness, which is why wine goblets were often carved from it!

Aquamarine
In addition to its place as March birthstone, Aquamarine is also a recommended gift for couples celebrating their 16th or 19th wedding anniversary.

Lore & Legend - Aquamarine derives its name from Latin meaning sea and water. Corresponding to the color variations found in Aquamarine from sky-blue to deep blue of the sea. Coming from the family of mineral Beryls which is also shared with Emeralds. Aquamarine lacks chromium which gives Emeralds its greenish color. Lore & Legend - The name Topaz is believed to come from the Sanskrit word tapas, meaning fire.  Topaz is believed to be the gemstone with the widest range of healing powers. The Greeks thought it had power to increase strength and to make its wearer invisible while the Romans believed it had power to increase the owner's eyesight. The Egyptians wore it to protect them from injury.
Topaz has also been said to cool tempers, restore sanity, cure asthma, relieve insomnia, and ward of sudden death.

Citrine
Citrine is an alternative stone for November and is also a recommended gift for couples celebrating their 13th or 17th wedding anniversary.

Lore & Legend - Citrine come from French word for "Lemon" and is a variety of yellow Quartz. Citrine is extremely rare to be found in deposits. Most Citrine sold, is made from heated Amethyst at over 878 degrees or higher which causes the stone to become dark yellow with light traces of red. On the other hand genuine Citrine is pale yellow in. It is important to keep the stone away from prolonged exposure to strong light and heat.

In addition to its place as January's birthstone, garnet is also a recommended gift for couples celebrating their 2nd year of marriage.

Lore & Legend - The name Garnet comes from the Latin word "Granum" meaning grainy. The rounded shape is similar to the seeds of a pomegranate. The color varies from red to purplish red. It can vary to almost anything except blue. The color is due to the intensity of iron and to a smaller amounts of manganese and chromium. The Garnet was adopted as a New York State gem in 1969.

Lore & Legend - Peridot is a gem variety of the mineral olivine found in basalt rocks created by volcanic eruptions. Olivine is known as chrysolite. The name chrysolite is given to this stone because of it's yellow-green color, but it is more correctly applied to golden-yellow, yellow topaz. The name Peridot is comes from French word Peridot meaning unclear, probably due to the inclusions and cloudy nature of large stones. The Romans called Peridot "evening emerald," because it will not darken at night and it's seen under a lamplight.

Lore & Legend - Tanzanite deposits are located only in the East-African state of Tanzania. New York Jeweler Louis Comfort Tiffany introduced the gem, naming it Tanzanite due to it's location. In 1967, they discovered the gem and the experts were very enthusiastic for its periwinkle blue color and its ability to exhibit three different colors when viewed in different directions. Therefore, they call it the "Gemstone of the 20th Century". The blue color is due to the presence of small amounts of vanadium.

Lore & Legend - Maine's official gemstone, tourmaline, originated it's name in Ceylon, called tura mali drives from Sinhalese word meaning "stone of mixed colors". The stone can come with a wide spectrum of colors from a variety of shades of red to green and blue. The name tourmaline is given to a group of isomorphous substances. The four most common and well known tourmalines are distinguished by color and transparencies.
